A grow house with approximately 30 mature plants and more than 70 small cannabis seedlings was located by police last night (Wednesday, December 3) in Forde.

About 5.30pm police received a report that a home in Aida Ball Circuit was insecure as the garage door was open.

Members from Gungahlin Police Station responded and observed the garage door open, and property commonly associated with artificial cultivation of cannabis present. Upon entering the home they smelt a strong odour believed to be cannabis and withdrew.

A Drugs of Dependence Act (DODA) search warrant was executed on the home later in the evening by detectives from Criminal Investigations.

About 70 small cannabis seedlings were located in a grow tent in one of the bedrooms and approximately 30 mature cannabis plants were located beneath a sophisticated artificial growing setup in another bedroom.

The setup included lights and irrigation systems on electric timers and air/ozone filters.

Investigations are continuing and police are appealing for anyone who has information in relation to this investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
