About 1.40pm today (Wednesday, 14 August 2019) ACT Policing officers attempted to stop a black Mazda 6 at a carpark in Fyshwick. The Mazda driver rammed a police vehicle and drove off at speed.

Police made attempts to intercept the vehicle in north Canberra suburbs, however this action was ceased due to community safety concerns.

At approximately 3.00pm this afternoon, following a call from a member of the public, the vehicle was located in Ainslie. The driver and passenger had abandoned the vehicle. Enquiries relating to the driver and passenger and their actions today are ongoing.

While no-one was injured in this incident, police are concerned that a small number of individuals are choosing to drive in an extremely dangerous manner to avoid police. This puts not only themselves but innocent road users at risk.

Anyone with information about the vehicle, its occupants or dash cam footage of the vehicle driving dangerously should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously.
