The Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin marked its end of 11th year and President’s changeover on Thursday 28th June at the 1882 Bar and Grill in Hall. The Club chartered on 6 June 2007 and is a breakfast club.
The Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin (RCAG) continues to operate in a relaxed environment with minimal ceremony. We will aim to build the Rotary brand in our area with our main emphasis to support our local Gungahlin community. In doing so, we will maintain a close relationship with the other Rotary clubs in our regional group, supporting them when appropriate and involving them in our activities when appropriate. We will support other community organisations such as the Salvation Army, St Vincents and Lions when it is beneficial. We will expend a large proportion of our revenue on worthwhile causes, while maintaining a reserve for unforeseen circumstances.
We recognise that we are a Gungahlin based service organisation and we will provide maximum effort in supporting our local area. Our secondary focus will be on international and national initiatives where we have a viable interest. In addressing community needs, we will focus on activities which demonstrate sustainability and good governance.
In the past year, the club of 15 women and men has undertaken 2,200 hours of community service and donated $31,000 to needy community organisations. The club also supported youth programs through its association with the Harrison school. In the coming year activities will continue to focus on supporting the local community, raising funds through activities including; Jamison Trash and Treasure, Bunnings sausage sizzles and the regular Jazz Nights in Gold Creek - to name a few.
