Witnesses sought for car fire in Gungahlin

About 4.45am yesterday (Thursday, 9 June), police responded to a report of a vehicle fire in Carver Lane, Gungahlin. Police have confirmed that this vehicle is the white Audi Q5 station wagon stolen from the Canberra Theatre carpark on Tuesday.

About 2.50pm on Tuesday ACT Policing received a report that a male offender, armed with a shot gun approached a female in the Canberra Theatre carpark, located on London Circuit in the City and demanded her vehicle.

The woman complied and the offender then fled in the stolen vehicle.

About 4.30pm ACT Policing received a separate report that the male offender, approached staff at the Australia Post store in Townsville Street, Fyshwick.

The male was armed with a shot gun and made threatening demands for cash. The staff complied and the offender fled the scene.

The alleged offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, with blue eyes and about 180cm (5’11”) tall. He was wearing black track suit pants with white stripes, a navy football jumper and black balaclava.

The car is a white Audi Q5 station wagon bearing ACT registration YJO-43U.
