A 35-year-old Palmerston man and a 20-year-old Higgins man will faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday 5 May for forcible confinement, blackmail, drug and property related offences.
Police will allege that on Sunday 9 April 2017, the men forcibly confined and blackmailed a man at an address in Palmerston over a number of hours.
An extensive investigation was undertaken by Criminal Investigation detectives who yesterday (4 May), executed a search warrant at an address in Palmerston.
During the warrant, investigators also seized a trafficable quantity of MDMA, 160 grams of cannabis and a sum of cash.
The men were arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.
The men will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
The 35-year-old man is facing charges including forcible confinement, blackmail – obtain gain, traffic in controlled drug other than cannabis, traffic in trafficable quantity of cannabis and unlawful possession of stolen property.
The 20-year-old man is facing charges including forcible confinement, blackmail – obtain a gain and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Investigations are ongoing.
