Many major cultural events are still on pause for 2021, but the events industry itself, which has been smashed hard by shutdowns, is rallying this weekend with an inspirational showcase at the Canberra Fair.
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February at Thoroughbred Park, the Canberra Fair will be highlighting new ideas and concepts, from Canberra and the surrounding regions’ market leaders in weddings, events, food, travel and lifestyle.
Designed to help you create your next perfect occasion, there will be an array of exhibitors to inspire, small businesses and boutiques to shop with, plus a runway presentation featuring new season looks by boutique designers to swoon over.
Of course, there will be food, as no event is complete without something to munch on. With 10 tantalising vendors cooking up a delicious storm over the two-day fair, here are three to try as you contemplate planning your next event.
Sabi Beverages
Taking inspiration from the Japanese concept of ‘Wabi-Sabi’, meaning that life is perfectly imperfect, Sabi Beverages aims to give customers the most perfectly chaotic drinking experience.
Their unique alcoholic bubble shots pop once placed in your mouth, delivering a burst of fun. With flavours ranging from the tropical Lychee Mojito to a vodka and coffee concoction named ‘Pick Me Up’, stop by and marvel at the magic of these inventive cocktails in a bubble.
Kusukusu Crepe & Waffles
For something sweet, Kusukusu Crepe & Waffles will be serving their traditional bubble waffles.
The gorgeous, delicious golden treat is a fluffy spherical egg waffle served hot-filled with your choice of ice cream, fruits, and sauce. Popular additions and toppings include marshmallows, smarties, and juicy plump strawberries.
La Empanada
Popular Gungahlin business, La Empanada, which started off their empanada adventures with a humble table at the Old Bus Depot Markets, selling refrigerated empanadas for people to heat up at home, will be at the fair both days tempting all that pass with the Latin American snack.
There will be rows of their generously filled half-moon pastries for sale hot and ready to eat, from the traditional beef filling to their newest taste sensation, guava with cheese.
Canberra Fair 2021 is on at Thoroughbred Park, 1 Randwick Rd, Lyneham on Saturday, 20 February from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Sunday, 21 February from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
