The Summernats 32 car festival will be held from Thursday 3 January to Sunday 6 January 2019 at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC). A number of road closures and changed traffic arrangements will be put into place for the event, including the City Cruise on Thursday 3 January 2019.
Summernats City Cruise closure
Location and timing of closure
- Sections of the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue will be subject to rolling closures from 11.45 am to 1 pm on Thursday 3 January 2019.
- The rolling closures will be in place from Flemington Road to the intersection of London Circuit and Northbourne Avenue.
Effects on traffic
- The rolling closures will shut intersections along sections of the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue as the cruise passes.
- Traffic management will be in place around the rolling closures.
- The rolling closures will apply to all traffic including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
- Delays are expected.
- Road users should seek an alternate route where possible.
Lonsdale Street closure
Location and timing of closure
Lonsdale Street will be closed between Cooyong Street and Girrahween Street from 10 pm to 1 am on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 January 2019.
Effects on traffic
- Lonsdale Street will be closed to general traffic but will remain open for pedestrians and local residents.
- Traffic management will be in place around the closures.
- Delays are expected in the area and motorists are advised to seek and alternate route where possible.
- The road may be closed earlier if ACT Police deem it necessary for the safety of the public.
Other street closures
Location and timing of closures
- Flemington Road will be closed between the Federal Highway and Randwick Road between Thursday 3 and Sunday 6 January 2019.
- Stirling Avenue will be closed between Knox Street and the Federal Highway from 10 am on Thursday 3 January to 7 pm on Sunday 6 January 2019.
- Elouera Street will be closed between Torrens Street and Mort Street from 10 pm to 1 am on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 January 2019.

- These closures will apply to all regular traffic.
- Traffic management will be in place around the closures.
- Delays are expected.
- Road users should seek an alternate route where possible.
Signage will be in place to alert people to the road works and detours in place.
