Special Christmas holiday bus timetable for the festive season

A message from Transport Canberra. Buses will run a revised bus timetable over the Christmas and New Year period, starting from Monday 19 December 2016 until Friday 6 January 2017 inclusive.

The Christmas holiday timetable will run over three weeks to reflect decreased passenger demand during the festive season. A Saturday timetable will be in place for both Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

A Sunday timetable is in place for Boxing Day, Tuesday 27 December, New Year’s Day and Monday 2 January 2017. A holiday timetable will be in place for the remainder of the three week revised schedule.

ACTION will again this year provide free travel all day on Christmas Day with a special timetable servicing all major bus stations. There will also be special return services to the Alexander Maconochie Centre, from Platform 1 in the City Bus Station.

The revised timetable can be viewed, downloaded and printed from the Transport Canberra website at www.transport.act.gov.au. A limited number of hardcopy timetables will be available at major Bus Stations week commencing Monday 12 December 2016.

Those travelling to the City for holiday celebrations are encouraged to make use of ACTION’s New Night Rider service. The service is a convenient and safe way to get home after a night out.

This great new service will run along Red and Blue Rapid routes between the City and major city centres including Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden and Tuggeranong until 2 am on Friday and Saturday nights during the festive season. Patrons who use the service will be able to benefit from Uber promotional codes to get $10 off their ride home between 11 pm and 2.30 am.

This year’s service will run on 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 31 December 2016 with increased services New Years Eve, Saturday 31 December. The New Night Rider buses will run every 20 minutes, except on New Year’s Eve, when they will run every 10 minutes.
