Road users and pedestrians are advised that temporary road closures will be in place on Hinder Street and Ernest Cavanagh Street from Thursday 11 October 2018 as work continues on the extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street.
The extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street will provide one lane of traffic in each direction, footpaths on both sides of the road, pedestrian crossings and on street parking bays. The temporary road closures on Hinder Street and Ernest Cavanagh Street will allow for the final layers of asphalting to be placed in the Hinder Street / Ernest Cavanagh Street intersection.
Location and timing of temporary road closures
Hinder Street will be closed in both directions between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and the Gungahlin Village underground car park entry/exit on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 October 2018 (weather permitting).
Ernest Cavanagh Street will be closed in both directions between the Gungahlin Square eastern driveway and Hinder Street on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 October 2018 (weather permitting).
There will be no access for road users however pedestrian access will be maintained.
Detours
During the closures, road users will be detoured via Gozzard Street and Manning Clark Crescent (map attached).
Road users are also reminded that closures remain in place on Kate Crace Street in both directions between The Valley Avenue and Efkarpidis Street and on The Valley Avenue in both directions between Hinder Street and Manning Clark Crescent.
Effects on traffic
- Delays are expected.
- Barriers as well as warning and detour signs will be erected to alert people to the temporary road closures.
- Drivers are asked to be mindful of the changed traffic arrangements and adhere to the work zone speed limits.
