From today, parents will be able to enrol their children online at ACT public schools, cutting red tape and speeding up the process.
“This new online system is a real time saver for both parents and schools,” Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch said.
“Parents will no longer have to fill out multiple forms with the same information to apply to more than one school, or when they change schools.
“Instead of having to visit school during school hours, parents can log in from their home computer, smart phone or tablet at any time to enrol their child or transfer schools. If they don’t have online access, computers and support will be available at schools and public libraries.
“There are no more paper forms, and the information goes straight to the parent’s choice of school for processing. This will cut down the processing time and allow parents to transfer their children between schools and sectors more easily.”
The start of online processing coincides with today’s opening of 2015 enrolments for ACT public schools.
“The ACT has one of the best school systems in the nation, which is reflected in the latest census showing a sixth straight year of increased enrolments,” Ms Burch said.
“The ACT Government is committed to putting children and parents at the centre of the school, and online enrolment is another way we are actively working to help ACT parents and carers.”
