The ACT Government wishes to advise motorists and other road users of road works associated with the Majura Parkway project on the Monaro Highway over the weekend.
“Work to relocate the traffic lights and lane crossover on the Monaro Highway, approximately 400 metres south of Pialligo Avenue, will commence on Saturday 31 May 2014,” Tony Gill, Director, Roads ACT.
“The lane crossover and traffic lights will be moved 360 metres further south to enable construction of the carriageway leading to the new Molonglo River bridge.
“The relocation will require the closure of both city bound lanes of the Dairy Flat Road bridge on the Monaro Highway from 5 am to 10 am Saturday 31 May 2014.
“City bound traffic will be diverted onto Sylvia Curley Bridge and Morshead Drive.
“Lane closures will also be implemented between 3 pm Sunday 1 June and 6 am Monday 2 June 2014 while the relocation takes place.
“The speed limit will be reduced to 40 kilometres per hour while work occurs. “Signage will be in place to advise motorists about the changed traffic conditions and traffic controllers will be used to help guide vehicle movements.
“This work is being undertaken outside of peak travel times to minimise disruption to road users and ensure the safety of construction staff.
“We thank road users for their patience during this work,” Mr Gill said.
