Work on the duplication of Horse Park Drive, Gungahlin between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Mulligans Flat Road will take advantage of reduced school holiday traffic to undertake important work on nearby footpaths.
Work will commence on Thursday 6 July 2017 to relocate underground utilities to a new trench alongside existing footpaths. To provide a safe working environment for construction workers and the community, the speed limit on Horse Park Drive will be reduced to 40 km per hour during the work hours 9.00am until 4.00pm.
Footpaths will remain open throughout construction, although during work hours footpaths will be narrower than usual to accommodate the safe work zone. Traffic controllers will be in place to control footpath traffic past the work zone.
All construction works will aim to be undertaken outside of peak hour to allow maximum movement of foot, cycle and vehicle traffic in the area. Construction will occur from Monday to Saturday.
It is expected that work alongside the footpath will be completed by 15 July 2017 in time for the return of students to nearby schools.
Construction of the Horse Park Drive duplication between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Mulligans Flat Road is expected to be completed late in 2018 and includes new traffic lights at Francis Forde Boulevard, Katherine Avenue south and Mulligans Flat Road.
