On Friday night Holy Spirit Primary School Principal, Brad Gaynor won the Australian Primary School Principal of the Year – Non-Government at the inagurual Australian Education Awards held in Sydney. These awards are to bring together school principals, department heads and industry leaders to celebrate excellence in Kindergarten to Year 12 education.
The Primary School Principal of the Year – Non-Government award recognises the most outstanding principal of a non-government primary school in Australia.
When judging this category the following criteria was considered:
- Effective leadership and motivation of staff
- Commitment to professional development (self and staff)
- Academic and other achievements during the 2017 school year
- Leadership of innovation and change within the school
- Engagement with parents and the wider school community
Director Ross Fox from the Catholic Education Office told us “Brad is well known by students, parents and colleagues in Catholic schools in the ACT and across Australia as an accomplished educational leader. Parents and students particularly appreciate his dedication to the learning and well-being needs of each child. Staff know Brad as innovative and a great colleague. This award is well deserved and recognition of his leadership and service as a teacher and school leader in ACT Catholic schools.”
Holy Spirit Primary School parent, Georgie Ovin shared with us “We are very pleased Brad has received this award and it is a privilege to have him as the leader of the Holy Spirit Primary School community. He deserves to be recognised for his commitment to students and teachers, his leadership and love of education.”
