This Gungahlin roads updates serves to advise of road closures and provides updates on some of the roadworks currently underway.
Manning Clark Crescent will be closed in both direction between Barbara Jeffries Street and Flemington Road on Saturday 7th May and Saturday 14th May 2016.
This closure will enable the construction of new water mains and utility services across Manning Clark Crescent.
Pedestrian access will remain open but people may be detoured via a temporary footpath.
From 17th May 2016, Hamer Street will close for up to three days to traffic between Mary Gillespie Avenue and Flemington Road.
This closure will allow water main and electrical works to be undertaken as part of the extension of Manning Clark Crescent.
Access will remain open along Hamer Street between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Mary Gillespie Avenue. Pedestrian access will remain open but, to maintain safety for pedestrians, people may be detoured via a temporary footpath. Residents will be informed of the closure dates through on-road signage and online information.
Other future impacts associated with this project include:
- Upgrading the intersection of Manning Clark Crescent and Flemington Road, which includes changes to kerbs, traffic islands, pavement areas and traffic signals. A future full closure of Manning Clark Crescent from mid June until September 2016 is being considered to allow more work to be undertaken. Residents will be informed through a letterbox drop, on-road signs.
- Installation of new stormwater, water supply mains and utility services at the Kate Crace street intersection with The Valley Avenue. Timing of this work is yet to be confirmed.
Work is progressing well on the the current stage of the Horse Park Drive upgrade. As part of the final stage of work at the Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Horse Park Drive intersection, an asphalt overlay will be placed.
This work will be undertaken on two consecutive nights, between Wednesday 11th and Thursday 19th May 2016 (exact dates are dependent on weather and scheduling). To reduce the impact on traffic the work will take place at night, from 7pm to 6am and will not occur over the weekend.
During the work, access in and out of Anthony Rolfe Avenue will not be available; however, vehicles will have full access in both directions on Horse Park Drive (in and out of the Gungahlin town centre) will be via Gundaroo Drive or Mapleton Avenue.
Soon after the work is completed, city-bound traffic is scheduled to switch onto the newly upgraded Horse Park Drive road surface. Works in the median of Horse Park Drive will then be completed, prior to this intersection becoming two lanes in each direction.
You may halso have noticed that work on the duplication of Horse Park Drive from Anthony Rolfe Avenue to Well Station Drive has commenced.
