The Hales family who once called Gungahlin home moved to Adelaide leaving behind friends and loved ones. Tragically last year last September the Hales’ daughter, 4 yr old Clementine was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour and has spent the last 7 months undergoing Chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Clementine is described by close family friend Jennifer as “a gorgeous, bright and happy girl and her family are amazing”. Clementine has an older 8 year old brother.
In an aim to help raise money to allow the Hales family to spend quality time together Jennifer created a fund raiser. Jennifer and five other mums set themselves the challenge to walk from Seacliff, an Adelaide suburb to Glenelg. The participants planned to dress up in fancy dress with pink being the colour of choice being Clementine’s favourite colour.
Jennifer and the other mums set themselves a goal to raise $5,000 to go to the Hales family. The walk took place last week on the 18th May and they managed to raise a staggering $21,000 in just 25 days!
Last year members of the Glenelg community and business community rallied behind this family and donated gifts and toys to the family.
The friends and loved ones left behind in Gungahlin have also wanted to help the Hales family in their own way. To make their contribution, Suryani and Kelly-Ann are planning their own fun run/walk/jogging fundraising event around Yerrabi Pond on 21st July 2013 at 11 AM to raise money for Hales family.
All funds raised go directly to the Hales family to help take the pressure of day to day household expenses and also enjoy much needed time together. To donate, even a little bit to the Hales family please visit their donation site atGo Fund Me.
