Harrison and Franklin residents are advised that Friday’s household waste and recycling services will be disrupted due to planned industrial action by drivers employed by collection contractor SUEZ.
The Transport Workers Union (TWU), representing the drivers, has provided notice that industrial action will take place this Friday 8 July 2016.
Residents in affected suburbs are requested to leave their bins out on the kerb from Friday as missed collections will be picked up over the weekend.
The following arrangements will also be in place from Friday 8 July through to Thursday 14 July 2016 for affected residents:
- excess household waste of up to two large plastic garbage bags can be disposed of for free at both the Mitchell and Mugga Lane Resource Management Centres. Proof of address such as driver’s licence will need to be provided to demonstrate the resident is from a suburb whose bins were scheduled for collection on Friday;
- recyclable materials from can be dropped-off for free at the six regional recycling drop-off centres. Additional collection services will again be scheduled for the centres to help cope with the expected increase in the recyclable material being disposed of by affected residents.
