Transport Canberra advises that the EPIC Park & Ride will relocate within the EPIC Showgrounds from Thursday 1 September 2016 to allow for the establishment of a site office as part of stage one of the city wide light rail network for Canberra.
“The office will be located at the site of the existing EPIC Park & Ride on Flemington Road which will be relocated within the EPIC Showgrounds from Thursday 1 September 2016,” Director of Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn said today.
“The relocation of the Park & Ride facility will have minimal impact on users who will continue to have easy access to bus stops on Flemington Road.
“To better manage the facility the new location will require users to hold Park & Ride permits – currently the facility has a mix of both permit and non permit spaces.
“To become a permit holder is easy. Applications can be made by visiting the Transport Canberra website. You will need to allow ten working days for permits to be processed.
“This location will be used by Canberra Metro for the duration of Stage One works up until 2018. Transport Canberra will continue to monitor the facility to ensure ease of use for passengers.
“From time to time the Park & Ride facility will not be available to users due to major events being held at EPIC. These dates will be made available on the Transport Canberra website and we ask people to make use of one of the other 18 Park & Ride facilities across the city on these days.
“Park & Ride facilities will easily integrate with bus services and walking and cycling infrastructure as well as light rail operations when they commence in late 2018.” Mr McGlinn said.
