The Canberra Raiders have finished second on the ladder and secured a home final at GIO Stadium where they will take on the Cronulla Sharks in front of a sold-out home crowd.
With over 26,000 fans expected through the gates on Saturday to watch the Green Machine make history, we know the GIO Stadium precinct is going to be incredibly busy, with many roads congested and only limited parking available.
Our best advice for fans is to get to the game early either by jumping on a free charted bus to avoid the hassles of travel and parking at the ground, or to consider car pooling with friends or getting dropped to the stadium.
Gates open at 2.45pm and the Canberra Raiders Under 20s squad, the NYC Raiders, will kick-off the game-day action when they take on the Roosters at 2.55pm. The main game will commence at 5.35pm.
To try and keep traffic running smoothly and to make sure we’ve got as many ticketholders in their seats for kick-off as possible, the ACT Government has arranged 29 charter buses, 23 more than a usual Raiders game, to get patrons to and from the stadium.
From 2pm, free ACTION buses will be departing regularly from major bus stations in Tuggeranong, Belconnen, Woden, Gungahlin or the City, and will commence return travel to these stations about 20 minutes after the game.
Your game ticket will also get you free travel on all ACTION buses all day, and the Blue Rapid 900 services are another great option to travel to and from the game. These services will drop patrons off along Haydon Drive, within easy walking distance of the stadium.
Parking is limited at GIO Stadium precinct so public transport is definitely the fastest and most convenient way to get to the game.
If you do need to drive and parking at GIO Stadium has been exhausted there may be space still available at the University of Canberra, College Street, Bruce and Canberra Institute of Technology, Bruce.
With heavy traffic and major delays expected around the stadium and surrounding roads in Bruce, the only way to make sure you don’t miss kick-off is to get to the stadium early.
For those who arrive early, “The Slab” at the Southern end of GIO Stadium is a great place to head before the game to relax and enjoy street food and drink.
Extra food outlets and toilets will also be available in the Stadium tomorrow to better serve our patrons.
