A development application has been submitted for 120 The Valley Avenue for a four storey mixed use commercial and retirement village building comprising of a medical centre, retirement village and 144 place childcare centre. The public notification period is now closed in relation to this DA.
The location for the development is next to Common Ground on The Valley Avenue directly behind Winyu House. This building will be on the corner of The Valley Avenue and a new road to be constructed from The Valley Avenue and Gungahlin Place heading south to join to another new road that will run parallel to The Valley Avenue to Manning Clark street.
Between Common Ground and this proposed development approximately half of the block will be set aside as a grassed area with the four storey building to be built on the other half. This building will offer basement carpark with access to the centre via a lift and associated stairwell.
It is proposed the Medical Centre on the ground floor will feature a range of discrete health services, including an ancillary pharmacy, a dentist, a Doctor’s consulting room, a pathology service and an X-ray and an ultrasound service.
The retirement village will offer 30 units with a mix of four, three, two and single bedroom self-contained apartments housed on the second and third floor of the building.
The fourth storey will be a 144 place childcare centre catering infants to toddlers and featuring a substantial outdoor play area.
