ACT Policing’s Traffic Operations team will be focusing on the ‘Fatal Five’ for the month of November.
The ‘Fatal Five’ are the five highest contributing factors to fatal vehicle collisions on ACT Roads.
These are:
- Alcohol or Drug impaired driving;
- Not wearing a seatbelt; Speeding;
- Intersections; and
- Driver Distraction.
Acting Station Sergeant Traffic Operations, Chris Smith said “Driving is a skill that requires your full attention at all times to safely control your vehicle.
“The ‘Fatal Five’ contributes heavily to collisions on our roads with some of those collisions resulting in people been seriously injured or killed.”
“If you are driving or riding on our roads then you are responsible for your own safety as well as those around you.”
“Don’t be selfish, drive responsibly and we can all get where we are going safely.”
Five people have died on ACT roads this year.
