Last weekend superheroes descended upon Anytime Fitness in Gungahlin and Casey to take part in the 24 hour treadmill challenge raising money for Suicide Prevention Australia.
The team at Anytime Fitness Gungahlin and Casey had set themselves the challenge of raising $5,000 per gym during this challenge. They put the call out to all members of the Gungahlin community to sign up in 15 minute blocks to run on dedicated treadmills from 6pm on Friday to 6pm Saturday. In total there were over 250 participants who racked up a total of 1,500 kilometers.
Local Yerrabi MLA Michael Pettersson took part as well members of the Gungahlin Rural Fire Brigade who did the 5am shift. Mark from My Gungahlin did 30 minutes prior to also running his 74th parkrun at Gungahlin on Saturday morning.
Through the efforts of the Anytime Fitness team, the members and other members of the Gungahlin community the $10,000 target was well and truly smashed with over $21,000 raised. This money goes to supporting Suicide Prevention Australia in delivering national leadership for the meaningful reduction of suicide in Australia. They work collaboratively to develop a community that knows how to ask for help and how to give help.
