We currently support over 700 families in the Tuggeranong region and more than 140 families in the Gungahlin region. Care&Share has 1960 visits per month and 490 unique clients per month across both campuses. Over 50,000 items have been provided to clients in the past 12 months.
Care&Share is supported by 24 active volunteers and over a dozen corporate and community supporters.
One of those that work at Care&Share is Carolyn is the Community Intake and Liaision Coordinator for North Canberra. “On behalf of Communities@Work, Care& Share Program I would like to give a big thankyou to the Gungahlin Community for their generous support, donations of food hamper items and gifts that helped families and individuals who were doing it tough over Christmas.”
“Now that Christmas is over the shelves in our pantry are rather bear and we are seeking support from our local community to help us restock and continue supporting those who are experiencing hardship in the Gungahlin region.”
Care&Share relies on strong community and corporate support and we are seeking donations of non-perishable goods such as canned food, tea, coffee, pasta, jars, cereals, baby food, nappies and toiletries.
Donations can be delivered to the Care&Share Program which is located in the back car park of Communities@Work, Gungahlin Community Centre off Anthony Rolfe Avenue or pop them into the green donation bin located at the Communities @ Work’s main reception which is located on 47 Ernest Cavanagh Street.
“Thank you for your ongoing support and helping make a difference to people’s lives.”
The following is a testimonial from someone who has benefited from the Care&Share program.
“I was referred to Communities @ Work by another charitable organization after I had approached it for help.
I was very nervous when I first went to the office, however I was humbled and so very grateful for the helpful and caring welcome I received.
The groceries I have been able to access have helped my three children and I through some very difficult times. I feel so grateful for that assistance.
I was amazed at the kindness that was shown to my family before Christmas. The food and gifts were wonderful but more importantly the KINDNESS that was shown to my kids and I was overwhelming.
The spirit shown by Carolyn and her co-workers at Communities @ Work brought the Christmas Spirit back to my family following many rough years.
I knew that someone cared for us. It was beautiful.
Thank you so much for supporting and caring for people doing it a little bit tough in such as gentle and non judgemental environment”.
