Following a temporary shutdown over the holiday period, work has recommenced on the Majura Parkway construction site.
Work will continue along the entire length of the road’s alignment, however, motorists and other road users are advised that from Monday 13 January 2014 until mid-2014, weather permitting, there will be increased construction activity on Majura Road near the Federal Highway interchange. This may result in occasional minor traffic delays.
The following construction activities will be undertaken on Majura Road and the northbound entry and exit ramps at Federal Highway:
- installing concrete barriers
- removing existing road lines
- constructing new additional northbound and southbound lanes on Majura Road
- resurfacing existing lanes
- earthworks and drainage works
- installing street lighting, kerbs and gutters
- line-marking.
Signage will be in place to advise motorists of any changed traffic arrangements in place to facilitate the above work.
Motorists and other road users are also reminded of changed traffic conditions on Majura Road and Morshead Drive that were implemented in late-2013.
Majura Road
- Until late-2014 (weather permitting), northbound and southbound traffic using Majura Road, between Range Lane and the Federal Highway interchange, will be diverted on to a newly constructed section of the Majura Parkway. This is to allow for the construction of the new northbound lanes of the Majura Parkway on the existing Majura Road.
Morshead Drive
- Until early-2015 (weather permitting), northbound and southbound traffic using Morshead Drive, between the Fairbairn Avenue intersections, will be diverted on to a new temporary side road. This will enable construction of the new road and bridge over Fairbairn Avenue.
Daily traffic updates for the project are made available on the Majura Parkway website each day. I encourage people to keep their eye on the website to stay up to date with the latest traffic arrangements for the project. For more information visit www.majuraparkway.act.gov.au
