The duplication of Horse Park Drive continues to progress with traffic switching to the new carriageway on Horse Park Drive between Well Station Drive and the Federal Highway this week.
“In September we announced three key milestones to be reached before the end of the year including the opening of four lanes between Mulligans Flat Road and Gundaroo Drive and works at the intersection of Horse Park Drive and Roden Cutler Drive,” said acting Director Capital Works at Transport Canberra and City Services, Jeremy Smith.
“This week’s traffic switch marks the third milestone and I’m pleased to see such great progress on this project.
“Motorists will have noticed the project team busily constructing the new carriageway between Well Station Drive and the Federal Highway. This work is now complete and this week traffic in this section will be moved onto the new approximately two kilometre carriageway (weather permitting). This traffic switch will allow works to take place on the existing carriageway.
“The duplication of Horse Park Drive will improve road conditions for all road users; motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. We ask that everyone be mindful of the changed traffic conditions and please take care,” concluded Mr Smith.
Roadside signage will alert road users to the changed traffic arrangements. Reduced speed limits will remain in place until works have been completed.
The traffic switch is expected to take place on Wednesday, 14 November 2018. In the event of unexpected delays, including inclement weather, road users should take note of roadside signage which will inform them of the new date.
