On 19th August, Marketplace Gungahlin opened their new two level underground car park which accomodates 500 car parking spaces and weather protected travelator access to Woolworths and Kmart.
Combined with the car parking within the Big W mall, there are now a total of 1,300+ car parking spaces available for customer convenience at Marketplace Gungahlin.
For the past 3 months, the Marketplace Gungahlin have had their boom gates and managed car parking equipment in place to provide customers ample notice of this pending change. Wilson Parking has advised the managed car parking will commence tomorrow, Monday 28th November.
Marketplace Gungahlin Centre Manager, Paul Morgan said. “As the area of Gungahlin continues to rapidly grow, we need to implement some parking controls to eliminate commuters and town centre workers occupying the premium car parking spaces all day. Commuters will be able to park within the ‘free’ all day car parks provided by the ACT Government around the perimeter of the town centre. Staff parking for Marketplace Gungahlin workers has an allocated area around the perimeter of the Level 1 rooftop car park above Big W.”
Customers will continue to receive the first (2) hours free parking with a nominal charge thereafter. The other shopping centres in the town centre only allow 2 hours parking with no option to stay longer.
