“True to its Italian style, Neighbourhood Food serves up a great selection of pizzas (there’s so many to choose from), heart warming risottos, traditional pasta dishes (including Spaghetti Bolognese and Fettuccine Carbonara), beautiful bruschetta’s for entrees and much more. It’s perfect for a generous and hearty bite to eat when you’re looking for good comfort food.” – HerCanberra 2/12/2014
As an ever busy and growing suburb, Gungahlin is often overwhelmed with fast food establishments and take-outs, but is now pleased to have a new restaurant in the mix.
neighbourhood food in Gungahlin is the creation of owner/operators Katrina and David Jukes, married hospitality professionals with over 35 years of combined experience. This long term dream of the couple came to fruition when they noticed they were unable to find a restaurant close to home, that represented some of the classic dining experiences both professionals were used to providing.
“We have both worked for companies like Hyatt and Sofitel and feel that good quality fresh food and great service should not be reserved for expensive hotels or fine dining restaurants”. – Katrina Jukes
The atmosphere in Gungahlin helped shape the couple’s vision for the menu. “neighbourhood food represents fresh quality Italian inspired dishes in a relaxed and friendly environment” – David Jukes
This is reflected in the menu’s quality take on a family meal – simple, home cooking done well. Making sure all the ingredients are fresh, the service is friendly and all the attention is on the customer. It’s just like having a nice family meal.
In February 2015 neighbourhood food was overwhelmingly voted “My Gungahlin’s Best Restaurant 2015” solidifying its position in the Gungahlin Community as a restaurant and takeaway that delivers on its promise of fresh, tasty, home cooked meals.
Now with the end of their first year’s trading almost upon us the neighbourhood food team have expanded their offerings to a Thursday and Friday lunch. neighbourhood food will be offering $12 pizzas and pastas for dine in and takeaway, from midday.
The restaurant is located in the town centre and is available for in office catering, lunch deliveries (within the Gungahlin town centre only) and for dine in or take away.
To take advantage of this great value lunch please visit the neighbourhood food team at shop 103, 54 Ernest Cavanagh Street Gungahlin (opposite the medicare office).
