ACT Policing apprehended a 21-year-old Bonner man after he was detected driving at dangerous speeds past numerous traffic cameras around the ACT.

Between 10 October and 10 November, a Yamaha R1 motorcycle with no registration plates was captured 53 times on static speed camera’s throughout Canberra, some of which involved dangerously high speeds.

After reviewing footage of the traffic cameras, ACT Policing determined that a sole male rider was responsible for all of the incidents.

Following investigations by ACT Policing Intelligence and Gungahlin Patrols, police located the motorcycle for sale via Gumtree and identified the alleged offender.

On 24 November, the bike and owner were located in Amaroo at which time police seized the motorcycle, a motorcycle jacket, helmet and a Go Pro Hero 2 camera attached to the helmet.

The man will be summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with multiple traffic offences.
