$3.325 million public transport project for Gungahlin Town Centre

Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, will tomorrow launch construction work on a $3.325 million project to upgrade public transport facilities around the Gungahlin Town Centre.

A new Gungahlin Bus Station is Canberra’s biggest bus stop (30m) and is compatible with future light rail.

It will include improved seating and shelter for bus patrons as well as space for the

installation of real-time bus information displays and a number of bike racks.

Other improvements will include:

  • Two new bus stops on Hibberson Street near Hinder Street
  • A new bus stop on each side of both Anthony Rolfe Avenue west of Gribble Street
  • Two new bus layovers (Kate Grace Street and Anthony Rolfe Avenue) which willinclude driver facilities and parking bays for buses
