Labor for Yerrabi candidates Meegan Fitzharris MLA and Jayson Hinder MLA joined in a game with 1st grade Gungahlin United players on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the 2016 season.

The celebrity soccer match was part of the club’s Gala Day, offering local families the chance to meet the players and get pumped for the season ahead.

“The Gungahlin United Gala Day was a great opportunity to meet the players, have a kick and enjoy some of the great things the Gungahlin community has to offer.

“It’s great to see Gungahlin United also supporting KitAid, a charity that recycles your once-loved football kit and distributes it to underprivileged children and adults in some of the world’s poorest countries. So if you have any items you might like to donate, please do so,” said Ms Fitzharris.

Mr Hinder said the Gungahlin community loved getting behind the players, and 2016 would be the best season yet.

“I love getting along to our local Gungahlin United games, and the GUFC Gala Day was another chance to show our support for the players, who I know so many kids look up to.

“I really enjoyed pulling on the boots for a kick and showing my support for the club at this great community event,” said Mr Hinder.
