The former Belconnen Day Club for seniors has opened in a new home in purpose-built premises in Goodwin’s newest apartment village, The Central, putting club members right in the social centre of Crace.

“The Central Day Club development recognises the need for Day Club clients to be provided with a suitably purpose-built environment,” said Goodwin Chief Executive Officer, Sue Levy.

“This is an ideal location for a service designed to keep seniors connected to their community, near social amenities such as cafes and parks.”

The new Day Club is on the ground floor of The Central apartment complex, which offers sophisticated apartment living exclusively for over-60s.

“It’s also great to see these services adjacent to a retirement living community. The aim is to support people to stay in their homes for as long as possible – whether that’s a long-standing family home in the suburbs, a villa in a retirement village, or a modern new apartment,” said Ms Levy.

Goodwin took the reins of the former ACT Health service, Belconnen Aged Day Care in 2014 and the service has since operated out of temporary premises at Goodwin Ainslie.

“We’re very pleased to finally be able to offer a stable home for clients, alongside our Community Care, North offices which also look after the Belconnen to Gungahlin communities,” said Ms Levy.

The Central Day Club runs five days a week. Day Club services include pick-up and drop off from home, morning tea, lunch, games, outings and activities. Day Clubs are funded by the Department of Social Services. Goodwin Day Clubs are also in Queanbeyan, Farrer, Monash and Gowrie.
