The Gungahlin Jets football club has taken the step up into Canberra’s top division of football in recent years and is making good progress so far. To continue in our pursuit of success both on and off the field we need your help!

We’re recruiting an army of volunteers and we’d love you to be a part of the Jets’ Army. Whether you have 1 hour a month or a few hours each week, every bit of assistance goes a long way to building a great club that people enjoy being a part of on the footy field or off it. Experience is not necessary. Only an attitude that is keen to help out. You will be provided with the knowledge and ‘training’ you need to perform your duties.

Game Day Support

On game day there is so much to do be done, both before, during and after games. The more volunteers we have the easier everything is and the better the day runs. We are looking for volunteers for all sorts of roles. Such roles include but are not limited to:

  • Team Managers – filling out match paper work such as team sheets
  • Stat Collectors – take stats for the coaches during the game like how many clearances
  • Bench coaches – manage the interchange bench
  • Assistant coaches – assist head coaches in the coaches box with coaching or just organising the magnet board
  • Runners – run messages from coaches to players out on the ground
  • Water Runners – run out water to players during games
  • Videographer – Video tape games
  • Canteen staff – work in the canteen to sell food and drinks

Training – Off Field Support

The players are working hard on the field but need your help off it. If you are available 6.00pm-8.00pm Tuesday or Thursday nights we’d love for you to help the players with the following small roles:

  • Pumping up footballs
  • Filling up drink bottles
  • Help setting up and packing up drills
  • Help packing up after training

These are only small jobs, but would help give the coaches and players more time to train. Just as elite athletes do, if you train an extra 10 minutes each session, that equates to hours at the end of the year (or season) that you have put in ahead of your competition.

Social Club Organisers – the super fun stuff

Are you a player who wishes there was more to the Jets than ‘just football’?

Are you a WAG or partner who comes to football games and huddles in your car with a cup of coffee and your phone, patiently waiting for the game to be over?

Do you have kids and wish there was more for them to do?

Do you remember the ‘old days’ when a football club was the ONLY place to be on a Saturday?

If this is you, then we want YOU!

We have a social committee to create a fun, inclusive social atmosphere around the club. We are a couple of friendly girls who think the Jets are a fantastic club and just want to make it even better.

We are looking for enthusiastic people who:

  • want to be involved and ‘have a go
  • have ideas for enhancing the social environment of the football club
  • may be able to organise or help on game days to deliver social events, then why not join the social committee!!!

If you are able to assist the club in any of the above roles please contact Peter Kocmar (senior president) either via email: [email protected]or via phone: 0402122210

Please forward this onto anyone who you think may be able to assist in any way, no mater how time they can offer. The senior jets player’s and coaches appreciate the support the jets community gives as we continue to strive to become a successful senior club in Canberra’s premier AFL competition.
