On Christmas Day 1,025 people took part in special Christmas Day parkrun events in Canberra and Goulburn with 276 people taking part in Gungahlin. Gungahlin’s event was supported by 15 volunteers who gave up their Christmas morning to ensure this event could go ahead for those that ran, jogged and walked the free 5km event around Yerrabi Pond. There were many people dressed in Christmas costumes and Santa may have started the event with Ready, Steady, Ho, Ho, Ho. Santa was even spotted halfway around the course playing some Christmas tunes on a trumpet.

At the event there were several people who celebrated some key parkrun milestones. Billy, Al, Marina and Peter completed their 50th parkrun, Ben completed his 150th and Claire her 200th.

Today also saw a number of parkrun tourists visiting Gungahlin from interstate including the Hardy family from Sydney who are true parkrun adventurers with most of the family visiting over 100 different parkrun events in Australia.
