The ACT Emergency Services Agency warns Canberra residents to stay off roads during the current heavy rainfall.

There is another storm cell expected within the next 30 minutes (1pm) that will exacerbate current conditions.

Do not drive into flood waters. If driving becomes too difficult pull over safely to the side of the road and wait until conditions improve.

The public are also advise to keep clear of waterways, which are likely to experience flash flooding in current conditions. When flooded waterways can become unpredictable and dangerous.

The ACT State Emergency Service has responded to more than 100 requests for assistance resulting from today’s storms.

The jobs have mainly related to localised flooding.

ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service have also been assisting with the clean-up from the storm.

For assistance during storms and flood call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call Emergency Triple Zero (000).
