ACT Policing have arrested two men following the theft of three motor vehicles from residences in Weston and Crace between Tuesday April 3, 2018 and Saturday April 7, 2018.

One of these men will face 20 charges including three counts of taking a motor vehicle without consent, six charges of driving having never held a licence and other property and traffic offences.

The other man will face charges of taking a motor vehicle without consent and riding/driving a motor vehicle without consent.

In all three of the vehicle thefts, the keys had been left in the cars by their owners, while the vehicles were left unlocked in garages or the driveway.

ACT Policing Superintendent South Stephen Turnbull reminds drivers to take vehicle security seriously.

“Often vehicle theft is an opportunistic crime where criminals are looking for an easy target. Drivers should always remove their keys, lock doors and boots, and close garage doors and gates whenever possible to secure their car,” Superintendent Turnbull said.

If your car is stolen report it to police immediately on 131 444. Provide police with:
