Light Rail General Construction Notice - February/10 - April 2017 - Kate Crace Street Between Flemington Road and Efkarpidis Street

Canberra’s first stage of Light Rail is coming to your area, and construction is well underway. This is an exciting time in our City and Canberra Metro is working hard to see this vision come to life.

In advance of the permanent closure of Hibberson Street from Kate Crace to Gungahlin Place, it is proposed to close, until 10 April 2017, the section of nearby road from Kate Crace St to Efkarpidis Street to enable critical road upgrade activity to be completed. Please refer to the map below. There will be no through traffic permitted during this window.

Scope of Works: Pavement re-construction must be completed. This involves:

  • Demolition of existing road in certain places
  • Installation of upgraded storm water assets
  • Road widening
  • Preparation for new roadside facilities

Start of Works:28 February 2017

Duration:Approximate 6 weeks, allowing for weather and other potential impacts

Timing of Works: – road will be closed 24 hours until 10 April 2017. Additional Information:

  • The equipment used will include light vehicles and general construction plant eg excavators, trucks etc.
  • Traffic management with traffic controls will be in place at all times to ensure the safety of the public and workers
  • Door-knocking will be undertaken in support of these works
