At 11:25pm on Wednesday 14th March a call was made to 000 reporting a house fire in Nicholls. Three pumpers, a breathing apparatus van and a command officer were dispatched to the scene.

The single female occupant of the house was evacuated with assistance from ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics. The patient was treated for minor smoke inhalation and transported to Calvary Hospital. Fire crews on the scene rescued a dog from the house.

The house has sustained extensive damage to the roof, garage and lounge room of the four bedroom house.

ACT Fire & Rescue will hand the scene to ACT Policing for investigation.

In recent times Gungahlin has seen a house in Harrison destroyed by fire and a unit on Flemington sustain significant damage from a fire.
