This week the Gungahlin Marketplace Stage 2 had it’s 7th anniversary. On October 31st in 2005 the then Chief Minister Jon Stanhope opened the 17,000 square metre expansion to the Gungahlin Marketplace. This opening brought Big W and a large number of extra retailers and food outlets to Gungahlin.

I can remember quite clearly quite awhile ago visiting Gungahlin and parking on a dirt paddock pretty much where the entrance to the Marketplace stage 2 is located now. My friends and I walked across the road to the old Gungahlin Takeaway which was located where This Cafe is now.

It is amazing to see just how much Gungahlin has developed over the years. There is still so much more to go with work being undertaken for the leisure centre and the enclosed oval well under-way.
