Did you see suspicious activity around the Amaroo playing fields early yesterday morning?

ACT Policing received a report of a burglary at the Gungahlin Jets Football Team clubhouse at the Amaroo playing fields about 9.45am Tuesday morning. ACT Policing Gungahlin Patrol members attended to examine the scene. An amount of food and drink were stolen. Investigations are ongoing.

ACT Policing has responded to two prior reports of burglaries at the clubhouse this year on 15 February and 8 March. Offenders were not able to be identified in relation to these prior burglaries.

Gungahlin Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who may have any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously

Michael Whyte Board Director of the Gungahlin Jets said:

“If there are people in the Gungahlin community who have any information about the offenders who have been breaking into the Gungahlin Jets AFL Club clubhouse over the past couple of months, please contact the local Gungahlin Police.”

“The Jets are a volunteer, community-based sporting organisation who struggle to raise funds for the operation of the club at the best of times, let alone having to suffer the financial burdon associated with being broken into multiple times. The costs are not just replacing the stolen items, but repairing the damage done on each occasion, and then upgrading security each time. That money comes straight out of the funds which should be put into the club to provide better amenities and facilities for our members and the local public.”

“If you know something, please speak up. These offenders might break into your house or business next, so let’s hand them over to the Police quickly.”
