Fire extinguished in unit at Franklin

ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a fire in a unit on Flemington Road, Franklin after receiving numerous Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls from 10:22 am.

The fire was contained to a one bedroom unit on the ground floor of the three storey building. The ground floor unit sustained significant damage with minimal damage to surrounding units. No-one home at time of fire.

Surrounding units were evacuated as a precaution and ACT Fire & Rescue are continuing with ventilation and air monitoring operations.

Nearby residents have been permitted to return to their homes.

Cause of fire deemed to be an electrical fault.

Estimated damage $100,000.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews will depart the scene shortly.
