The ACT Government Vet today undertook an autopsy of a kangaroo found under fencing at Gungaderra Grasslands in Crace.

The autopsy was undertaken following circulation of images online of the dead kangaroo. The autopsy of the kangaroo this morning by the ACT Government Vet revealed it had fatal injuries consistent with a car accident and was then inflicted with injuries from an implement such as a knife to its head to make it look like it had been shot.

It is not normal behaviour for a kangaroo to try to crawl under a fence and there was no evidence of any soil disturbed in the area.

It would appear the animal has been intentionally manipulated and the photograph staged. These are disturbing actions from those involved. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
