Three key milestones will be reached in the coming months as the duplication of Horse Park Drive continues.

The duplication of Horse Park Drive between the Federal Highway and Katherine Avenue (west) is necessary infrastructure to provide for the ongoing development in the Gungahlin region.

In the coming months the community will see noticeable changes along the length of the duplication.

Resurfacing Works

Road resurfacing will take place on Horse Park Drive between Mulligans Flat Road and Gundaroo Drive from Monday 10 September to Friday 21 September 2018 (weather permitting). Work will be carried out between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. One lane of traffic will be open in both directions at all times.

During these works there will be temporary partial closures at three intersections (Francis Forde Boulevard, Katherine Avenue and Mulligans Flat Road). Traffic signals at these intersections will be turned off and traffic control personnel will manage the intersections. Only one intersection will be impacted at a time. Signage will be in place to notify of closures and detours.

All four lanes in this section will be open to motorists in fourth quarter 2018.

Intersection Works

There will be works at the intersection of Horse Park Drive and Roden Cutler Drive in Amaroo for approximately two weeks from Tuesday 2 October to Sunday 14 October 2018 (weather permitting) to allow duplication of the intersection to take place. Work will be carried out between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm.

Roden Cutler Drive will be closed in both directions between Horse Park Drive and Appleford Avenue. Detours will be in place via Mulligans Flat Road, Mabo Boulevard, Mobourne Street and Appleford Avenue (map attached).

Traffic Switch

Following the Roden Cutler Drive intersection works, traffic between Well Station Drive and the Federal Highway will be moved onto the new approximately two kilometre carriageway. This will allow work to take place on the existing carriageway. One lane of traffic will be open in both directions at all times.

The ACT Government thank everyone for their patience whilst this road duplication continues.

The entire Horse Park Drive duplication between the Federal Highway and Katherine Avenue West is expected to be completed in first quarter 2019 (weather permitting).
