This week ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch presented Molonglo Community Bank Group Student Awards to students at a special awards ceremony in Curtin. Gungahlin College student Jarod Cornish was among 10 Canberran students to be recognised in this ceremony.

Providing leadership to their peers, raising vital funds for research and coaching soccer to young Canberrans with a disability, are just a few of the reasons ten Year 11 students were recognised with a $100 community bank account.

“These Awards celebrate the goodwill of students in their school and wider community and it was humbling to hear of the many altruistic qualities of our young people in the ACT. Their goodwill ensures a stronger and more sustainable school system and local community,” Ms Burch said.

Now in its second year, the awards acknowledge the positive contribution that Year 11 students in both ACT public and non-Government schools make to the community. Recipients were each awarded with a $100 Community Bank account.

“I would like to congratulate all of today’s winners and thank the Molonglo Community Bank Group for their commitment to our school community as well as the broader local community,” Ms Burch said.

Congratulations Jarod.
