Canberrans can now more easily contact the ACT Government via their smart phones and upload location data and photos to the popular ‘Fix My Street’ service, thanks to a new mobile interface for the Canberra Connect website.

“This new mobile friendly interface will make accessing information and payment services and reporting issues easy while on the go,” Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, Rattenbury said.

“By enhancing mobile access to the Canberra Connect website and Fix My Street service, people will be able to provide online feedback to the government and immediately report neighbourhood issues such as a pothole or broken footpath as they find them.”“The mobile interface has been developed to take advantage of functionality that is commonly available on smartphones and other mobile Internet enabled devices.”

“By bookmarking the Canberra Connect web page, an icon can be saved to a mobile’s home screen, enabling quick access to this online service.”

“People might also choose to utilise their device’s inbuilt GPS capabilities to ‘geo-tag’ their location as they submit their feedback, which can assist work crews to locate issues reported quickly and efficiently.”

“Users of the mobile interface will also be able to upload images from their mobile and attach them to their feedback, further enhancing the level of detail received about an issue.”

Mr Rattenbury said the Fix My Street service enables the ACT Government to better track and improve responsiveness to the local issues that affect Canberrans and the liveability of their neighbourhood. Over the last year, the Fix My Street service has received more than 8,000 reports from the community.
