Regular HoursDescription:
Gungahlin Girl Guides caters for girls aged 5 and up. We run a great program, based on the seven fundamentals of Guiding - Service, World Guiding, Leadership, the Patrol System, Promise and Law, Guiding Traditions and Outdoors – which sees the girls develop existing skills and learn new ones each and every week, under the guidance of trained and experienced Leaders.
Guiding provides a values-based, dynamic and flexible non-formal educational program for girls and young women in a fun and supportive girls-only environment. Girls develop leadership skills and a sense of personal responsibility and a shared purpose to make the world a better place. Guiding gives girls the chance to be themselves and grow in self-confidence.
There is a badge system in place that gives the girls the opportunity to choose between a structured syllabus and designing their own challenges. The “Achieve a Challenge” badges see the girls grow in their skills and knowledge throughout their Guiding life with the challenges increasing in complexity. The “Explore a Challenge” badges provide the girls with a number of options within a common theme and they complete a number of clauses before the badge is awarded. The “Create a Challenge” badges allow the girls to set themselves a challenge based on the badge design and some key words, and work with their peers and Leaders to achieve the badge.
