The future player base of the Gungahlin Bulls Minor Rugby League Football Club (Bulls juniors) appears to be well assured with the continuing rapid development and increasing population of the Gungahlin area.
The Bulls juniors are already one of the largest junior Clubs in Canberra for player numbers, with teams in all age groups from U6 to U16, including the girls competition,and a strong non-playing Bulls Midgets program for our aspiring champions in the 4 and 5 year old age groups. It is anticipated that as additional suburbs are developed, these player numbers will continue to increase.
While this expected growth is comforting, the current Bulls juniors Committee understands the tension between expanding a Club and upholding the interests of the Canberra region competition, including being careful not to undermine other Clubs in its surrounding suburbs.
With this in mind, and with the assistance of the Bulls Senior club, the Bulls juniors have undertaken to work with close neighbours, the North Canberra Bears (also a feeder club for the Bulls Seniors), to ensure players are provided with opportunities at either Club and that both Clubs remain strong into the future.
The Bulls juniors have a number of goals that it will be pursuing in the next few years to cement its place in the Canberra Region Rugby League competition and to establish it as a shining endorsement for the game of rugby league, including:
