The vacant block opposite the Ngunnawal shops at the intersection of Yarrawonga Street and Jabanungga Avenue in Ngunnawal is under review. Under the Territory Plan the block is zoned Commercial CZ4 which permits retailing, residential and other services to the local community compatible with nearby residential areas (subject to meeting the required planning codes).

This block was previously reviewed for release in July 2011 seeking feedback from households in Ngunnawal. A total of 34 submissions were received in relation to this review. After reviewing the submissions and deliberation the block of land was removed from the release schedule in April 2012. However this block was declined to be added to the open space network in May 2012 by TAMS.

Due to the land not being added to the open space network there is a need to add it back to the release schedule and a second review being conducted. There is an opportunity to provide feedback on this space until 4th February.

Noting there is currently vacant tenancies at the Ngunnawal shops and the development of the Casey group centre nearby would retail be a viable option? What about a child care centre? More residential which may increase the viability of the shops?

For more information and details on how to provide a submission please see EDD.
