With less than two weeks until Canberra counts down to 2018, NYE in the City and Bass in the Place have rolled out the playing times for the two free concerts.

NYE in the City will see Exposure soundtrack the final moments of 2017 along with the midnight fireworks launched from City Hill, following headliners Art vs. Science’s dynamic live show at 10:30pm.

Ember will warm up the dance party Bass in the Place at Garema Place until 11:55pm, with Canberran Blanke taking over the decks directly after the countdown and fireworks.NYE in the City

Having been compared to the likes of James Bay and Ed Sheeran, Canberra born Harry Carman will open proceedings at 7pm in Civic Square. Wearing his heart on his sleeve he couples catchy and fun melodies with deep, heart-wrenching, and brutally honest, lyrics that many a singer/songwriter would be afraid to touch.

Joining Art vs. Science in Civic Square will be local band Brass Knuckle Brass Band, performing at 9:15pm, bringing their addictive sounds that has recently seen them star at Falls Festival and Woodford Folk Festival. This brass band brings a late-night party for anyone who knows a sousaphone is always tougher than a bass guitar. Covering the likes of global sensation Lorde and a few originals, Brass Knuckle Brass Band is sure to get the toes taping around the city.

Hosted by MC Joe Gleeson, Canberrans will be able to feast on the very best local food trucks, including Indian street food Tikka Stand, Canberra favourite Jacko’s Pizza, Potato Swirls, Pure Gelato and Shotclock Espresso.

Locals Soul Sistas will kick off the free, all-ages dance party Bass in the Place at 9pm, followed by Clique and Peter Kiemann. One of Australia’s top DJs, Ember (of Ministry of Sound fame), will bring the beats and turn heads with his dance-inducing sets at 11pm, with Canberra’s very own Blanke closing the party.

Bass in the Place will kick the party off at 9pm as the sky explodes in colour with the first fireworks display and will conclude at 1am.

Canberra’s New Year’s Eve in the City and Bass in the Place are free all-ages events and are alcohol and glass free to ensure a safe and exciting evening for all Canberrans. For further information, visit www.events.act.gov.au or phone Access Canberra on 13 22 81.
