Erika Gener-Galiza and Matthew Byrne are both 26-year-old Canberrans with a passion for business and giving back to a community that has inspired them to create their ideals.

The co-owners of Kriss Kross both have an intimate understanding of the work that Lifeline does to help in the community, both having made Canberra their homes as children of new Australians wanting to set up in Australia and call Canberra home.

Today, they are the excited and proud owners of Kriss Kross Barbershop & Salon. Bringing together a unique skill set of creativity and business innovation, they have succeeded in creating an environment suited for providing traditional barber and hair dressing services as well as attracting unique and talented stylists and barbers to come together.

They believe no business should be ordinary and creating new ideas can be limitless.

Kriss Kross has 3 different harmonizing elements, a hair salon, barbershop and café. “We like to consider our business as more of a creative space than a traditional business.” says Matt.

Our main emphasis is focused around great customer service, quality and providing an outlet for creativity over profits. We want our clients to be looking and feeling they’re very best upon leaving the store after every visit.

“We wanted something different, something fresh and original that could alter peoples perspectives on what a simple barbershop & salon should look like. The goal was to have a look and feel that sparked excitement and enthusiasm from our staff and clientele before even stepping foot inside.”

Kris Kross will be hosting a special launch event and will be providing music, food and beverages, men’s cuts, kids cuts, ladies treatments and blow waves, and even face painting for the kids and families to raise funds for suicide prevention through Lifeline Canberra. There will also be a special dance performance a raffle with a whole bunch of prizes to be won on the day.

“We decided to go with lifeline for a couple of reasons. Firstly, their main focus is on suicide prevention, which is an issue that we feel very strongly about at Kriss-Kross, and one in which we have all been effected by in one form or another.

Secondly, they’re a Canberra based charity that has been helping the local and national community for over 40 years.” says Erika. Lifeline is a reputable and respected charity that is steadfast on their mission to save lives through placing up accessible safety nets for people in crisis.

Kriss Kross is excited to donate 100% of the profits from the event to lifeline.
