Jarrett's City2Surf Story

Brain cancer has a devastating impact on the lives of families, it’s a ‘secret and silent’ killer, that has not received any substantial funding or resources for decades, and this is just truly devastating and unacceptable, we need to work together to change this.

Dainere was so excited as she had loved running and one day had hoped to represent the ACT in Cross Country and Athletics just as I did. Dainere was my number one fan, cheering me on in all my races and giving me the warmest hugs after each race, she told me she was so proud of me.

Dainere had wanted to cheer me on, running proudly as a Gold Charity Runner over the line in City2Surf 2013 but although she fought with every inch she had, her life was stolen by what is the cruellest and most insidious cancer of all.

I have continued to run City2Surf each year since as a Gold Charity Runner in memory of and as a legacy to Dainere.

Did you know that Jarrett has been so selfless, as an elite runner he has qualified each time as a preferred red group start runner but instead chooses to run to elevate awareness and raise crucial funds for Dainere’s Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund.

We would be so sincerely and humbly grateful if you would consider supporting Jarrett as he runs for his beloved little sister Dainere and all children diagnosed with this number one disease killer of our precious children in Australia through clicking on the link below. Every little bit does make a difference as it goes towards research to give hope, a future, to create change and one day see a cure become a reality.

This year we are extremely honoured to also have the wonderful Mark Scarborough from My Gungahlin also Running to support Dainere’s Rainbow in his first ever City2Surf. Read about Mark’s story here: A little Heartbreak Hill for a whole lot of good
