LJ Hooker Commercial has been appointed by Bunnings to lease the 5,055 sqm of additional retail space as part of their $59 million development on the corner of Hibberson and Gribble Streets, Gungahlin.

Construction is currently on schedule and due for completion in late 2015, with ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd being appointed as the builder.

The development which is to be anchored by a new 17,000 sqm Bunnings Store, is set to add a new dimension to the Town Centre as it will be the first retail development in Gungahlin to cater for large format retailers. The centre will provide ground floor leasing opportunities from 75 sqm up to a possible 1990 sqm, via a total leasable area of 5,055 sqm, with shops facing directly onto Hibberson Street and Bunnings Warehouse located on the entire upper level.

Leasing agent Lachlan Fitzpatrick from LJ Hooker Commercial – Canberra, confirmed “We have received strong interest in this development even before we have commenced marketing due to the immense drawing power of Bunnings and the shortage of large format retailer space in the Gungahlin Town Centre. These are users that you would traditionally find located in the industrial/service trades areas and that have been keen to break in to the Gungahlin market for sometime”.

The development is strategically located fronting Hibberson Street (the main street of the Town Centre) and just a stone’s throw from The Marketplace Gungahlin, Gungahlin Village and Gungahlin Squre. “Gungahlin has the strongest growth area in the ACT for many years and based on the most recent Census the primary catchment area boasts a young aspirational family demographic, with higher than average incomes and low unemployment rates. These statistics are a huge selling point for potential tenants looking to lease space within the centre” said Fitzpatrick.

Formal marketing for the centre has commenced with completion due in approximately October 2015. Fitzpatrick expect the leasing opportunities to be keenly sought after and anyone with a tenancy interest in the centre can contact him on 0411 374 432.
